Gustavo Martín Sánchez was born in Regensburg. After graduating from the music high school of the Regensburger Domspatzen in 1997, he studied singing at the Munich University of Music and Theater (concert and opera singing with Prof. Rita Hirner-Lill, oratorio class with Prof. Hanns-Martin Schneidt, song interpretation with Prof. Dr. Siegfried Mauser ).
In the course of his studies, he was able to take part in numerous productions of the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding in the Prinzregententheater: "L'incoronazione di Poppea", "La Calisto", Purcell's "King Arthur", Detlev Glanert's Munich premiere of "Joke, Satire, Irony and Deeper Meaning", Busoni's "Arlecchino", Pier Francesco Cavalli's "La Didone", "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by B.Britten, "L'enfant et les sortilèges" by Maurice Ravel, "The Wax Museum" by Karl A. Hartmann.
He also sang the celebrated Pedrillo in Mozart's "Abduction from the Seraglio" in Offenbach's "Hoffmann's Tales" and "The Four Grobians" (2005) at the Isny Opera Festival, in the Margravial Opera House "King Arthur", in the Pasinger Fabrik in Gotha Castle as Don Polidoro in Mozart's "La finta semplice", in the Summer Games in Maxlrain as Hypolit in Lindpaintner's "Der Vampyr". Since the beginning of 2007 he has sung the role of Don Ramiro in Rossini's "La Cenerentola" at the Hamburg Chamber Opera (Alleetheater) in numerous performances. At the Heidenheim Opera Festival in 2007 he sang Pedrillo in "Abduction from the Seraglio", then again at the Central German Chamber Opera in Leipzig "La Cenerentola", then he devoted himself to Ernesto in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" and in 2012 as Sandrino in G.Paisiello ´s "King Theodor in Venice” in the Hamburg Chamber Opera. In February and March 2008 he sang the student Arkenholz in A.Reimann´s "Ghost Sonata" in the Opera Stabile of the Hamburg State Opera. In June 2008 he joined the Carl-Orff Festival in "Il trionfo di Afrodite" and "Carmina Burana", also in 2009. In the season 08/09 he made guest appearances at the Theater Koblenz as a dance master in "Ariadne auf Naxos". In 2009 he performed at the Schlossfestspiele in Ludwigsburg and made a guest appearance in "Acis und Galatea" at the Theater Fürth. In March 2010 he sang at the premiere of Wilfried Hiller's "Der Sohn des Zimmermanns" in the Würzburg Cathedral and in Rome in Castel Gandolfo with Pope Benedict XVI. In May he appears at the Prinzregententheater in Munich during the Orff Days, including an evening with Konstantin Wecker's premiere of Carmina Bavariae, which was then repeated in 2014 at the Gasteig Philharmonic in Munich. In 2011 he was also invited to the Carl Orff Days as well as in 2016/17. In 2012 he sang the role of "Konrad" in the operetta "Die Schützenliesel" for the Bavarian chamber operetta. In 2013 he sang the Munich premiere of "Final Fantasy" in the Munich Philharmonic under the baton of Grammy award winner Arni Roth. In the same year he was invited to the Orff'sche Agnes Bernauer Festspiele. In 2014 he sang Josef in Wiener Blut. In 2015 he sang the opening of "Tage Alter Musik" in Regensburg with the Domspatzen with BR live broadcast. In 2016 he sang in the premiere of the opera "W-the truth beyond" by Fredrik Sixten in Tübingen and Ystad (Sweden). And he was allowed to sing another world premiere at the Icking Festival by Randall Svane's St.Francis Symphony. In 2017 he was invited to the Festival Mallorca. In 2019 he was invited to the Black Forest Festival.

Broadcasts on ORF, 3Sat and BR, CD recordings of Neapolitan canzones and live recordings show his diverse repertoire. He was supported during his studies by the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now". He also took part in Rossini master classes with Raúl Giménez and Alberto Zedda.
He has had voice training experience with several Dortmund choirs, including the Bach Choir. He currently supports the Essen Cathedral Boys' Choir and the Cathedral Choir, as well as the Marl Music Community.
